What Is Plantar Fasciitis and How to Treat it?





Plantar Fasciitis is a health issue concerning the bottom of the foot. It results from too much stress being placed on your feet.




The damage is inflicted on the fascia- which is a thin layer of tissue that protects other tissues in your feet.




The most common causes of plantar fasciitis is standing, running and performing activities that put a lot of stress and pressure on your feet.

Just as any other symptom of a damaged tissue, the most commonly noticed symptom of plantar fasciitis is overwhelming pain. From burning, to stabbing, stinging a throbbing, many people experience dramatic amount of pain when they get up in the morning. The sensation however, lessens throughout the day, but there are rare cases where that overwhelming pain is constant.

The most common places where this issue can develop is the middle section of the feet and the toes.

Plantar Fasciitis can be especially annoying since it can last up to a year or two. Since we cannot avoid walking and moving, it is best to immediately consult with a specialist about this issue before the pain starts impacting your normal daily life.

Causes of Plantar Fasciitis

As we mentioned above, plantar fasciitis can result from many factors. Some of them are flat feet, bone spurs, running on hard surfaces, or from a profession that requires a lot of standing up. Another factor can be the shoes you wear. Poorly constructed shoes let your feet deal with a high amount of stress, so chose your shoes as careful as you can.

And last but not least, people who are overweight are at a higher risk of developing this problem.

But what are the treatments for plantar fasciitis?

There are many treatments for plantar fasciitis out there. The most famous one is R.I.C.E treatment which is short for Rest Icepack application Compression and Elevation. Aside from being most famous treatment, it is considered to be one of the best treatments also.

But people take into consideration dietary modifications as well. For example, Zinc is an essential mineral that helps regenerate damaged tissues.
